IMAH & ZI

Mother & Daughter

A heartwarming story of how Imah adopted Zi and brought her up like her own daughter. Their belief and care for each other is unrivalled and feels just like second nature.

1. Tell us more about your relationship with your mama.

If it wasn’t for my mama, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Although we may not always see eye-to-eye at times, her love and wisdom is something that can never be forgotten. My mama is one of the people who has shown me unconditional love. Our mother-daughter relationship is full of love and support.

2. How has she been like a mother to you?

When I make mistakes now and then, she's my go-to teacher. I was a very challenging child when I was young. Even in my teens and early twenties, my mama was patient and had the ability to wait for me to change and be better. My mama never gave up on me even though I gave her horrible times. She has been too kind.

3. What does she do that inspires you everyday?

My mama's love is unlike any other and our one-of-a-kind relationship can never be compared. She never judges others, her love is unconditional and only grows stronger throughout my lifetime. She has inspired me to be a better mom to my kids.

4. What is the one activity that you both love doing together?

Going to salons and spas since I was a young teenager! We stopped after I started a family, but we have now made it a routine again since last year. We also love going for holidays, recently I took her for a staycation and it felt so good.

5. If you could pick a flower that best represents her, what would it be and why?

Iris - I read somewhere saying that iris are regal blooms that have long stood for royalty, but also for wisdom and respect. That represents my mama.
